Marc Danel and his Korean partner, arriving from Salzburg, present a program combining rarity and grandeur. On the program: the superb and rarely performed Violin Sonata No. 1 by Edvard Grieg, whose complete recording of all three sonatas was made in a world premiere by Jerrold Rubenstein, then artistic director of the Concerts Astoria; the famous Sonata by César Franck, dedicated to the great Belgian violinist Eugène Ysaÿe; and, in a Belgian premiere, a work by composer Daniel Davis.
